Didn't want to overload you all with too many figure posts yesterday but if you keep tabs of my store's inventory, you might see that I snuck in a brand new Bishoujo figure release. Yes, the great artist Shunya Yamashita is at it again with TWO new figures of an American comic book beauty, once again proving that the Japanese do it best.
Announced yesterday was both the Phoenix and Dark Phoenix X-men Bishoujo figures. They are scheduled to come out some time in June or July and Jean Grey never looked so good.
Just announced today are the reserves for this beautiful Marvel Psylocke Bishoujo figure. Once again Shunya Yamashita and Kotobukia give the Marvel girls the much better and hotter looking designthan what has been done here in the states. This 1/8th scale figure won't be around tilll around April or May of 2010, so be patient.
The price in yen as you see is 6510 which with the dollar hovering at 89 yen/$..brings it to about $70-$75 retail
Just got word of this figure being put on reserves for pre-order. Like many, I'm a fan of the Shunya Yamashita figures. This one is most definitely one to add to the list, it just might cost much more than the usual ones though ^^;; At about 15,000 yen (~$170) it'll put a hole in the wallet, yet it looks to be worth it if you are looking for a larger Yamashita figure. This version of Ryomou Shimei will be a 1/6th scale so expect it to take up some shelf space. Not sure yet if I'll be stocking a bunch of her in the store but I'll see what I can do. She won' be around till around March in Japan and thus around April in the states so there is some time to save up your money for her...as long as you don't spend it all this x-mas season.
Been all over some new blog templates as of late, but don't let that stop the blogging ^^;; Here's a wonderful picture for you to gander at today. This one is obviously done by the great Shunya Yamashita. If I'm not mistaken, this is a variation of his character Roxanner, of whom will have a figure released in the coming months.
Finally out in the US, the long awaited Shunya Yamashita Kanaru figure by Artstorm can finally be in the hands of us American otaku. Just one look and you'd see why this one has been on the wish list of many. Excuse me while I grab a tissue to plug my nosebleed ^^;;
Haven't done the Anime Pic of the Day in a while. Thought I'd bring it back with a favorite of mine. This is a lovely anime angel pic drawn by none other than Shunya Yamashita. Love his art and the figures based on his art. Just one look at this pic and you can see why he's the master of the Bishoujo (pretty girls) genre.
Browsed through the magazine I got from one of my suppliers and this caught my eye. This is a 1/8th scale of X-Men's Rogue made by Kotobukiya. As you can see from just how pretty she is, that this is indeed a Shunya Yamashita figure.
I used to be an X-Men fan back in the mid 90's when I watched the cartoon Saturday mornings and yes I did have a thing for Rogue. Granted, as I got older and saw the difference between the girls of X-Men and other American comic I soon lost interest. Let's face it, American comic girls tend to be drawn and made into figures that look more like ugly steroid-ridden she males than goddesses of beauty. Thankfully that's not the case here.
Rogue is an absolutely stunning and by far a figure on my wish list. Already ordered a half a dozen or so of them for the store and she's going to be placed next to Tifa, Mirei, Needa and Yuffie.
Here's some more good info, looks like this is the first in a series of Marvel Bishoujo figures by Yamashita. I wonder who will be given the pretty treatment next?
At first glance you would think this is Pocco but apparently the name of this simply stunning new figure by Shunya Yamashita and ArtStorm is Nasuka. This one is by far an eye catcher with a Japan release in December 08 and a state-side release of around January or Febuary 09. I'll most likely keep one of these for my personal collection. This one is very unique in the way she is suspended in mid air. hope over time that doesn't cause any issues ^^;
Yes the lovely Mirei-san figure is back. This time as a cute bust figure. Of all the Yamashita characters and figures, Mirei is my top favorite. I already have the now discontinued one of her in a chair sitting at my desk. This one will go perfect on the other side of the desk. I know some of you don;t like that she has no legs but I really dont mind for this one. If this one is up to par as the other one, which I'm sure Kotobukyia will make it, she will look identical to the original picture, which as you can see is Shunya Yamashita's work at its best. She will cost though a little over $100 or 10,200 yen and she won't be out in Japan until September 08 so an x-mas appearance here in the states is highly unlikely. I'll post a pre-order link for my store here or on a future post the instant I can grab a lot full of them.
Shunya Yamashita's Arisa figure was a huge hit here in the US and in Japan. It's become very tough for even anime store owners like me to get one. Good news is that Yamato is making a new Arisa in the form of a color variant. She won't be out in the US until late July or so. Which Arisa do you like better? The first one or the newer one? Wow! Not since Shunya Yamashita's Mirei-San have I've seen a figure this beautiful. As most of you know I'm a big fan of Yamashita's work. Collected many of the recent figures my favorites being Shii, and of course Mirei-San; she sits right on the right end of my desk. This one will be on the left side. As you can see from the images, this one captures Yamashita's signature cute and erotic look. The blue-purple hair, the tribal tattoos are a perfect balance of sexy and violent strength that only Japanese artists are able to create. Check out some more info of her here. Some of you might be familiar with the Revoltech Fraulein line of figures. These are Kaiyodo's newer line of jointed figures that are intended to be just as artistic as the non-jointed pvc figures. One issue with jointed figures as one could guess is that the ball joints usually take away from the beauty of the figure since they tend to be eye sores. Most American figures suffer very badly from this and also a few of the Japanese figures too...mainly the cheap ones manufactured in China.
The Fraulein line recently released the Rei Ayanami figure and the on mentioned here is the Pocco figure. What's so great about this one is that its designed from a character by the famous artist Shunya Yamashita. If you are familiar with his Arisa, Mirei-San and Sera-Chan figures or his work in general (like I am), this figure would excite you. Sculptor Enoki Tomohide managed to keep Shunya Yamashita's cute and sexy theme. Like the other Revoltech figures, she comes with 20 points of articulation and accessories to pose her in many different form. These sure beat those wooden human model figures used by artists. Yamato's Creators' Lab did it again. Another Shunya Yamashita figure is coming to the states on Dec 20th. This one is the Arisa PVC figure. It even comes with removable eyeglasses , decorative arm parts and the skirt too is removable. Once again it keeps Yamashita's sexy and funny look. Expected arrival to the states is sometime in February or sooner. You can order her here.
Hey everyone. Sorry for the wait on my blogs. I do want to post at least one a day and they will be on other stuff than just figures but nobody minds looking at these. Anyways, here is a figure coming out at the end of the year. This is another figure by Shunya Yamashita; the Shoko-San 1/7th scale figure, black variant. Looks just as good as the original but I'll admit that I prefer the color scheme of the original since it's more diverse. You can comment on which one you like better. You can pre-order it here. The date says it will be in by February but it is possible that I can get this in to the Anime Store as early as November. The original can be purchased here. The original should be out soon too.
Here is the first figure I wish to show you guys. I'm pre-ordering this item for my store and I just wanted to know what you all though of it. In case you didn't know, Shunya Yamashita's work includes Sera-Chan, Mirei-San, Shii and others. These tend to sell through the roof and for good reason.
