Otacool 2: Worldwide Cosplayers

Many of you are familiar with the Otacool project Kotobukiya and Dannychoo.com did with otaku rooms and I'm certain many of you heard about the second collage book fronted now by mega cosplay site CURE.  If not, then you guys really should check out the official post over at Dannychoo.com.  Some of you might become rather popular in Japan with your cosplay outfits.  Even my fiancee, Danielle is joining in the fun ^^

Being that I'm an anime store owner, I'll be getting the rights to stock the Otacool 2 book ^_^

so here's the link to preorder it.

Mirai Suenaga Anime

Dannychoo.com's Mascot Mirai Suenaga is getting an anime based on her and her sisters! Called "Mirai no Mirai", the anime looks like it will be beautifully done by the artist K L. No set time yet on it's release date but I'm adding it to my watch list for sure. Big congrats to Danny Choo yet again for having his site mascot not only have a figure coming out based on her...but an anime too ^o^ Damn Danny, me and other fans out there I'm sure would love the same for their sites and own characters. Once again, thanks for blazing the trail (and making all of us all the more jealous ^^;)

Check Danny's post about it here.

Figma Mirai

Big congrats to Danny Choo (@dannychoo). As of today he graced fans on his two sites, dannychoo.com and figure.fm with pictures of the prototype to the Mirai Figma figure. It must feel great to see a character that you create as a mascot to your site or just in general become an official anime figure. Many anime fans create characters based on their love of the art and manga artists sometimes get that honor of seeing their characters being added to the plethera of respected anime characters.

Hopefully my day will come when I set up my own mascot (Fumi) to be that. I still have that flash/iPhone game in mind (I didn't forget). As an anime store owner with a dealership with Figma, I'll make sure to aid Danny and Figma in this project by ordering some for my store. More info down the road once pre-orders are given the green light for me ^_^.

Check out more info and the people responsible for the Figma Mirai on Danny's sites.

Danny Choo Nikon Commercial

Danny Choo is the person I can thank for reawakening my anime fandom that I somewhat strayed from between 2004 till almost all of 2006. His blog inspired me to start this one which shortly then lead me to run my anime figure business. Though I still currently work part time for Berger Brothers Camera (which BTW is only a few miles from the Nikon's USA headquarters), my anime blog and anime business has got me to be working far less on stuff I don't want to do and thus more on what I love doing.

Just recently Danny got to be the theme behind the latest Nikon Camera commercial. Check out the video below. As we can see, the anime/otaku blogosphere is indeed strong, growing and inspiring many to be creative and live fulfilling lives. Remember the old saying, "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life."

Danny has inspired many of us and we owe him a big thanks for his continued love for all that is otaku. I hope my blog continues to grow and inspire as well. I know back on the start of my site in 2002 and 2003 Danielle and I inspired many with our AMVs and the feeling of having some fans and more importantly, to have inspired others to be anime fans is a fulfillment of a lifetime goal and just a wonderful feeling to have. Awesome job Danny and I hope to achieve at least just a fraction of the stuff you have ^_^

(oh BTW Danny, if you read this post I am getting back to work with Anime.fm. I'll gladly give you the reigns to the site if you so want to again ^^;;.)

Danny Choo on CNN

Check this out everyone. Good friend and blogging role model, Danny Choo just had his own feature story on CNN. It's nice to see a bit on Danny's famous family heritage and of course to see anime and anime figure be in the videos of CNN ^_^. Didn't exactly like how CNN emphasized the word "geek" in their video, though ~_~. Big congrats to Danny. It goes to show how it doesn't matter what your passion is, what matters is that you go for it. You don't have to live in the shadow of your family's expectations to be successful (also great to see Danny's father supportive of him as well). As for me, I started out as a computer programmer (for video games though) but as you all know, I don't want to work for someone else since to me having a job is just like modern-day slavery. Having this site and an anime store has brought out my passion and yes, even more money. For those who were wondering about when my retirement will be from the 9-5 rut, it won'r be this Friday like I wanted to be but very soon. Like Danny, I hope that just the traffic alone from my anime site will also pay for the bills and thus is one of the hopeful goals of version 4.0 of this site. Of course, Danny's hits are through the roof and I'm just a 200/person a day blog for now but I look up to his example as an otaku, business owner and web master as should you all. Congrats again Danny and thanks for showing us otaku that we are part of something big and something we can be passionate about full-time that is fullfilling to our heart, soul and yes..our wallets too, but that of course is a byproduct of the passion, never the main goal.

(Oh and Danny, I promise to make anime.fm alot better, too since it needs some work. I need to make sure its the $15K site godaddy.com says it is ^^;;)

Wonfes 2008, Anime Figure Fanatics Rejoice

As many of you might know, Wonfes is just about over and if you are like me, stuck in the still anime-starved-states, you'd wish you were down there. This is the perfect place to view all the upcoming figures from companies like Good Smile Company. To keep up to date with all the cool stuff, check out Japan's top blogger, Danny Choo's site as on all the great pictures...well, actually looking at New York time compared to Japan time, things are ending or just ended a few hours ago. The picture above also via Danny Choo. Expect more figure posts soon as more cool stuff eventually comes to the US.
