Final Fantasy XIII Official US Release Date

Mark 3/9/10 in your calendars my fellow US Final Fantasy fans, just got a letter from Square-Enix as well as saw a fan post on dannychoo.com about the official release date of Final Fantasy XIII.  Been waiting for the game for so long of course and as with any FF game, it probably is worth the wait.  As most of you know, it'll be on the PS3 and the Xbox 360.  I'm still going with my plan to buy the PS3..gotta watch the Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete BluRay of course ^^.

The FFXIII figures come out around the time too, so it was bit expexted that March would be the time we'd see it.

Kingdom Hearts Cell Phone Charms

Just posted up in the store the upcoming Kingdom Hearts Cell Phone Charms. They don't arrive to the US till around late October 2009 but you can pre-order them if you'd like or ask to be on a waiting list. They are about $10 and look pretty cool. Chances are I'll be keeping a Cloud one for my fiancee and me (if I can get it on my iPhone ^^;;)

Here's the the list of each type:
  • Cloud
  • Kairi
  • Riku
  • Roxas
  • Sora

Final Fantasy VII Novelette Anime

More good news for Final Fantasy VII fans. Looks like the recent "On the Way to a Smile" novelettes that went with the Advent Children Collector's DVD set will get an anime.

In case some of you don't know about these little stories, they are accounts of Tifa, Barret and Denzel during the two years between FFVII and Advent Children. There are also ones coming out with the new Complete release that includes stories of Yuffie, Red XIII and Vincent.

Aniplex and BeSTACK will be creating the animation and not MadHouse, as it was with the Crisis Core anime.

As a big fan of FFVII...awesome...but how about a PS3 remake or the inevitable sequel Dirge of Cerberus hinted at? Granted, we still have to wait for FFXIII before any of that will be hinted at ^^;

Info thanks to Anime News Network and Otaku Review

Square Enix Selling Lots of Non Video Game Items

If you were at Comic-Con 08 (unlike me ~_~;;) you would have seen a wonderful booth set up by Square-Enix showing off their newest figures, game trailers and manga. In not too surprising news, they are beefing up their non gaming products to profit off of the growing European and American otaku fans who most likely have FF figures in their must-buy list. As an anime distributor myself, I'll agree very much to Square's interview with Anime News Network on their high selling line like the Advent Children Cloud and Sephiroth. As of very recently, the Play Arts Volume 2 which includes FFVII game versions of Sephiroth, Vincent, Cait Sith, Red XIII, and Yuffie have been selling like hotcakes. I've bought cases of them and I'm already down to my last few ^^;

New figures are on the way from Square including some very nice (and a bit pricey, but worth it) Kingdom Hearts Figures. Other figures on the way include FFXIII figs, like the incomplete one shown in the pic above, a stunning $1000 FFXII Gabranth 1/1 helmet (seen in a previous post), and most likely more from the Final Fantasy VII line. Otaku got more to be excited about but hopefully they come out here by x-mas...chances are late January will be when they are all available outside of Japan.

Final Fantasy IV Sequel: The After: Return of the Moon

You're not reading the title wrong. There is currently a sequel to Final Fantasy IV. Here's the catch though...its only in Japan. Despite an expected huge surge of sales currently in Japan; Square-Enix is most likely not going to release it here in the states. Would love to see it here but I'll admit I need to play IV first then this one. The story revolves around the son of Cecil and Rosa, Ceodore. More at Square Enix.

Final Fantasy XII Artifacts Gabranth 1/1 Helmet

The instant I saw this item displayed by my dealers, my jaw dropped to the floor. Of course I was amazed by the $999.99 price tag. I've never even sold a Swarovski crystal worth that much, let alone a videogame item. Final Fantasy XII fans have already seen Square-Enix come up with wallet emptying figures (in a good way) but this one takes the cake. This helmet which is a wearable (I believe) 1/1 scale was made from FRP fiber reinforced plastic utilizing the CG data from the game. Its exact to Gabranth's helmet more than any other prob ever created. I'm a big fan of anything Final Fantasy but if I get this for myself too, I'll probably not go cosplaying with it. I wouldn't want to lose or damage this one. Check out more info on it here.
