Inuyasha: Kuroi Tessaiga OVA Announced!

My Zimbio Arts & Entertainment Blogs - Blog Catalog Blog Directory Japan Blog Directory

Hey, Inuyasha fans. I know a bunch of you are still there. Well, you are in for a great treat because the anime series will continue on and there is going to be more episodes!! This was to be expected since the manga just finished a few weeks back. Finally all the waiting and wondering on why the hell 4 years ago the series ended so abruptly and with an obvious need for more.. is now less stressful for you. Now the only worry you might have is why only one episode has been slated so far and not more. Inuyasha was at one point the highest selling anime so expect another huge batch of episodes. I just hope it doesn't drag on and on though...story progression is oh so needed. Anyways, expect the flood of new and old fans to of this series to be practically everywhere (again). News received yesterday thanks to DannyChoo.com member Artefact.

(I am a fan of it, too by the way ^ ^)

Featured Anime Voice Actor: Richard Ian Cox

My Zimbio Arts & Entertainment Blogs - Blog Catalog Blog Directory Japan Blog Directory

Welcome to another weekly segment about famous anime voice actors both English and Japanese. This week's feature voice actor is non other than Richard Ian Cox. Richard is most famous for of course his role as the voice of the famous dog-demon, Inuyasha. With the Inuyasha manga finishing its final chapter in Shonen Jump yesterday and with a possible continuation of the anime, Richard is the perfect voice actor to feature. I also have a funny story to tell related to him, that I'll mention later.
Born on October 3rd 1973 in St. Asaph, Wales, Richard Ian Cox is actually a rather prominent TV actor even if you don't include his wide array of anime dubs. His first claim to fame as stated in his wikipedia page was when he co-stared with Mickey Rooney in the early 90's adaptation of Black Stallion. His other TV roles include Dr. Brendan Gaul on Stargate Atlantis, the helicopter pilot in the 2007 Ghost Rider movie and even The Outer Limits. Anime roles include Inuyasha (of course, Ranma Saotome: Male version from Ranma 1/2, Itta from .hack//ROOTS and even Zaacro + Spice from the original Ocean Group Dub of Dragon Ball Z...yes the same dub that includes the famous Vegeta dub with "Over 9000!" Zaacro and Spice being Garlic Jr.'s minions in Dead Zone I believe. Richard also did voices in non-anime like My Little Pony and recently Care Bears.
Currently he directs "South Delta Secondary School," a theater production. Chances are he'll do the voice of Inuyasha again as there might be more episodes now that the manga is complete.

I got a chance to meet Richard Cox back in 2002 at I-CON 22 at Stony Brook University in New York. He was very nice to the fans and his normal voice is exactly what you hear when you hear Inuyasha. He doesn't change it much for the role. Here's where the funny instance happened:
That year Danielle and I cosplayed as Tidus and Yuna from FFX and during the contest we played out the kissing scene in front of a whole crowd. More embarrassing yet was that the first row consisted of Richard Cox and the entire Viz crew! (Image of us just before the kiss below) Later in the day we attended Richard and Viz's dubbing workshop and Richard singled us out stating that there's no kissing in there.. in a nice and funny way. Danielle even got to dub Sango during it which was pretty cool. Chances are Richard would remember that if I meet him again and even though its been 6 years ago since then, only my hair got shorter, so he'll remember. He'll also probably question why he goes to those conventions. ^^;

Inuyasha Manga Comes To An End

My Zimbio Arts & Entertainment Blogs - Blog Catalog Blog Directory Japan Blog Directory

On June 18th, 2008 the highly popular and beloved Inuyasha series comes to a close. The anime series was long running but never got close to the later progression of the story despite its 200+ episodes. (maybe new episodes on the way after this bit of news???...only we can hope ~_~) . The manga will conclude with 558 chapters!

Like DBZ long before it, I feel a bit saddened that an anime legend will come to an end but again, lets hope the anime gets back to where it left off.

You can view my Inuyasha section here to see pics and other stuff from the anime and a bit from the manga (yes more needs to be added to this dusty part of my site ^^)

-Thanks to Danny Choo User xorsyst for spilling the beans on this one.
